Check your tenancy agreement and agree on the handover expectations with the landlord or agent before booking move-out cleaning. There is no single cleaning checklist that automatically settles every rental situation.
Check the official instructions for the district where you live before putting unwanted furniture outside. Collection methods, reporting and approved locations can differ; another city's process is not a nationwide rule.
Keep moving rubbish separated from the belongings that travel, and follow your local disposal instructions. Mixed bags of packaging, food and household items are harder to handle correctly at the end of a long moving day.
Decide the route for unwanted items before booking their transport. Selling, giving away and disposing each require a confirmed handover or collection; merely listing an item online does not remove it from your moving inventory.
Do not dispatch a load on the assumption that keys will become available at an unconfirmed time. Clarify the handover with the landlord or agent and discuss a contingency with the mover before the day.
Arrange a secure, quiet place for your pet away from open doors and active furniture carrying. Tell the moving contact that a pet will be present, but do not assume the moving vehicle transports animals.
Ask the mover how rain affects loading, protective materials and building access. A wet-weather plan should cover both your belongings and safe movement through shared entrances.
On moving day, focus on access, inventory and communication. Keep your booking details and essentials with you so the crew can work without repeatedly stopping to locate a key or clarify an item.
Pack a first-night bag that stays with you, not in the moving load. Its purpose is to let you manage an access delay or an evening of unpacking without opening every box.
Before moving, identify who manages electricity, gas and water at each property. Some arrangements are handled through building management and others through individual accounts; do not assume your new home matches your old one.
Contact your internet provider before the move to confirm whether service can be transferred to the new address and whether an installation appointment is needed. Moving the router does not itself transfer the connection.
Changing your home address can create an immigration reporting obligation. Check the requirement for your status promptly with Korea Immigration rather than assuming that your landlord, mover or utility provider completes it for you.
A moving address-change checklist for Korea: delivery orders, shopping accounts, subscriptions, bank records, work or school, and physical mail. Check each separately.
If you discover damage after a move, document what you found and contact the moving business promptly through a recorded channel. A clear factual record is more useful than immediately guessing who is responsible.
If a box appears missing, check your inventory and likely placement before concluding that it is lost. Then give the provider a precise description and ask it to trace the handling record.
Salgu offers English consultations for people planning a move in Korea. Send your date, route, inventory and building access details so the conversation can focus on your actual move.
