Contact your internet provider before the move to confirm whether service can be transferred to the new address and whether an installation appointment is needed. Moving the router does not itself transfer the connection.
Ask the account-specific questions
Give the provider the destination address and intended move date. Ask about availability, the existing agreement, any equipment to return or take, and the steps required to arrange the change. Do not assume fees or contract conditions from another customer's experience.
If internet is included with the property, ask the landlord or management what you should do instead of canceling an account you do not hold.
Pack the equipment clearly
Photograph connections and label power supplies. Keep provider-owned equipment and accessories together, following return or transfer instructions. Separate your own networking devices from items supplied with the apartment.
Arrange a backup for urgent work and confirm your appointment rather than treating the moving truck's arrival as the connection date.
Should I cancel and open a new contract?
Ask your provider to explain the available options and consequences for your actual agreement before deciding.
Will movers install my network?
Do not assume technical configuration is included. Confirm carrying, installation and service activation as separate responsibilities.
