Decide the route for unwanted items before booking their transport. Selling, giving away and disposing each require a confirmed handover or collection; merely listing an item online does not remove it from your moving inventory.

Set a decision deadline

Create a list of items you do not want to take. Record their condition and dimensions, then choose a latest collection date before your move. If a transfer has not been confirmed by that deadline, arrange an alternative rather than leaving the decision until loading day.

Describe defects honestly and make collection conditions clear. Tell a recipient about stairs, dismantling needs and whether you can help carry. Avoid exposing personal documents or other residents in listing photographs.

Update the moving inventory

Once an item has actually left, tell the mover. If it remains, confirm whether it will travel or use an authorized disposal route. Never leave an item in a communal space solely because someone might want it.

Donation acceptance varies by organization and item. Ask directly about condition requirements and collection; this guide does not promise that a particular organization will accept furniture.

Should I sell items after booking the mover?

You can update the inventory, but ask about the provider's revision deadline and how changes affect the arrangement.

What if a buyer cancels?

Use your backup plan and notify the mover before dispatch if the load changes.
