Check your tenancy agreement and agree on the handover expectations with the landlord or agent before booking move-out cleaning. There is no single cleaning checklist that automatically settles every rental situation.
Ask what needs to be returned
Clarify the treatment of supplied appliances, cupboards, rubbish and any marks already recorded at move-in. Keep the original condition photos and relevant messages available.
If you hire a cleaner, describe the agreed tasks and the home's actual condition. Tell them when the moving crew will finish removing belongings. Cleaning an empty room is easier to inspect than cleaning around packed boxes.
Record the handover
Take clear photographs after cleaning and removal, and arrange the agreed inspection and key return. If someone raises a concern, ask them to identify the item and the requested action in writing.
This guide helps organize evidence and appointments; it does not determine deposit deductions or legal responsibility. For a dispute, seek advice suited to your agreement and circumstances.
Must I use the landlord's suggested cleaner?
Check your actual agreement and discuss the requirement. Do not infer an obligation from a suggestion alone.
What if rubbish remains after the cleaner leaves?
Confirm disposal responsibilities beforehand. Cleaning a surface and arranging collection of bulky waste are separate tasks.
