Before moving, identify who manages electricity, gas and water at each property. Some arrangements are handled through building management and others through individual accounts; do not assume your new home matches your old one.
Build an account list
For each utility, note the account holder, contact route and the agreed move-out or move-in date. Ask management or the provider how final readings, settlement and new occupancy should be handled in your situation.
Keep relevant account details privately, and record meter information when requested or useful for handover. Do not interfere with meters or disconnect equipment yourself.
Coordinate technical appointments
If a qualified visit is required for a gas appliance or another connection, arrange it through the appropriate provider. A furniture moving booking is not confirmation of utility activation or safe appliance installation.
At the new home, verify that necessary services are available before relying on them for cleaning or the first night. Save confirmations and receipts with your moving records.
Does changing my immigration address update utilities?
Do not assume administrative systems and commercial accounts update one another. Check each account directly.
Can Salgu's English consultation arrange every utility?
English moving consultation is available, but utility administration is a separate task. Ask about any assistance rather than assuming it is included.
