Plan a dormitory move around checkout rules and your confirmed next address. A small inventory can still become complicated if room inspection, luggage pickup and new-home access happen at different times.
Start with the residence office
Request the checkout deadline, inspection process, key return instructions and any vehicle access restrictions. Ask whether a mover may enter the room or must collect belongings from a designated loading point.
Separate university-owned bedding, furniture and equipment from your possessions. Keep a record of returned items. If your next accommodation is not ready, confirm where your belongings can legally and securely stay in the gap.
Pack for the transition
Create one bag containing identification, medication, chargers and clothing for the first night. Label each remaining box with your name and a count such as “2 of 6,” without displaying sensitive identification numbers.
Send the mover the total inventory, collection point and available pickup window. Do not assume a residence office will hold packed boxes after checkout unless it has agreed.
Can two students share a booking?
Ask for a quote that clearly lists each pickup and delivery point. Keep the inventories and labels separate.
What if the new dorm opens several days later?
Ask about storage and redelivery as a distinct stage. Compare the full arrangement, including access to anything you need during the gap.
