Before moving out of a furnished apartment, confirm the supplied-item list with your landlord or agent. Do not pack an appliance, curtain or piece of furniture simply because you have used it throughout the tenancy.
Reconcile the inventory
Compare the move-in inventory and photographs with the room as it is now. Make three lists: supplied items staying, personal items moving and items awaiting clarification. Photograph anything that might be confused with your own property.
If you replaced or repaired something, keep the relevant messages and receipts available. Ask how the original and replacement items should be handled rather than making assumptions about ownership.
Make the distinction visible
Label personal boxes and tell the crew which large pieces stay. Avoid using permanent adhesive on furniture surfaces. A written room-by-room list is safer than pointing quickly at objects while packing is underway.
At the end, check cupboards, storage beds and balcony cabinets for personal belongings. Photograph the returned space and follow the agreed key-handover process. This records what happened without promising any particular deposit outcome.
Should I discard worn supplied furniture?
Only after obtaining clear instructions from its owner. Disposal and replacement are separate decisions from your move.
Can the mover decide who owns an item?
No. Resolve uncertainty with the landlord or agent before loading; the crew should receive a clear inventory.
