Use boxes that are clean, intact and suitable for the contents, and confirm whether your moving package supplies them. Packing everything into the biggest available box can make a small move harder to handle.
Match the box to the load
Keep dense items such as books in smaller containers. Use larger boxes for lighter belongings, without exceeding the container's stated limits. Replace boxes whose bottoms or handles are damaged.
Ask the mover whether reusable crates are available and when they must be returned. If you obtain your own materials, check that the packing approach fits the agreed service.
Label for arrival
Put the destination area, contents summary and box number on more than one side. Mark fragile contents clearly, but remember that a label cannot replace protective packing. Keep a separate inventory without writing sensitive information on the outside.
Pack an essentials bag separately. Never bury your only charger, house keys or identification inside a numbered box that will be difficult to retrieve during unloading.
Can I leave a box open so the crew can inspect it?
Ask the provider what it expects. Loose open boxes can complicate handling if the booked service assumes everything is sealed and ready.
How many boxes should I report?
Give the best current estimate and update it before the agreed deadline. Include bags and loose items, not just cardboard boxes.
