Back up important data before moving a desktop computer, and plan protective packing for the screen and tower. Transporting equipment and protecting the information on it are separate tasks.

Prepare the setup

Photograph cable connections, shut equipment down normally and disconnect accessories. Keep cables in labelled bags. If original protective packaging is available and sound, it can help; otherwise ask about a suitable alternative for the particular device.

Do not tape directly onto a screen or treat a monitor like an ordinary book-filled box. Ask the mover about fragile equipment and whether any delicate internal hardware needs preparation by a technician.

Build a first-workday kit

Carry your essential laptop, authentication device, charger and any work-critical small accessories separately. Keep sensitive data and account information out of inventory photos.

At the new home, check for visible damage before reconnecting. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and arrange the desk so cables are not under tension. A successful delivery does not guarantee that your internet connection is already active.

Can the mover disconnect and rebuild my computer?

Do not assume technical support is included. Agree on the exact task or prepare it yourself if you know how.

What if I need to work immediately after arrival?

Plan a backup connection and accessible equipment. Book internet relocation separately and confirm its appointment rather than relying on the moving schedule.
